What Is THE PITCH About

It is a semi-reality show, designed to prepare start-ups and micro and small-scaled business owners to pitch for investment from venture capitalists and angel investors, to scale up their businesses.

The program is a two-month business audit process, aimed at aligning Ideas and/or businesses of participants with best practices to make the businesses attractive to investors and venture capitalists.

Do you have what it takes to be crowned the winner of The Pitch Competition? Pitch to some of the most influential people in the investment community, including partners of venture capital firms.

Who can participate? Startups from around the nation Ghana.

Purpose of The Pitch

  • To help startups, micro and small business owners and potential businesses make their businesses attractive to investors
  • To help startups, micro and small business owners and potential business owners develop the skill to make a winning pitch
  • Educate business owners and potential businesses on what makes a great pitch and how to get businesses ready for investors’ financial injection.
  • To make business smarts an everyday skill for the average Ghanaian
  • To help in attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals 1 – 4 and 8 (Eradication of Poverty and Hunger, Good Health and Well Being, Decent Work and Economic Growth.
  • Provide an opportunity where Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors can be guaranteed a good use of their resources for the Development and attainment of the Goals.

THE SEARCH

PRELIMINARIES

Shortlist based on criteria, Select the top 50 applications, Covering as many industries as possible

TV SERIES

First Pitch to SME & Feedback, Let them make their initial pitch. Subject Matter Expert to give feedback, Work-session with SME, SME to provide practical sessions to make their businesses attractive and pitch ready to impress the investors.

FINALS

Final Pitch, Anyone can win investment packages. But the best pitch wins more.

How Does It Work?

Register to participate in the virtual pitch round, record your 10 minute video pitch and upload your startup’s details to our site. Real investors will judge and provide feedback online.

Our first round of pitches will happen live at hope channel studios. Over the coming weeks judges will then choose the best startups across the nation to compete in the Pitch final at a new event.

Call for Entries

The official call out through multimedia for applications to be submitted to The PITCH secretariat for consideration.

This will have two main steps:

1- Press Conference to ensure that the media is well briefed about the program and mechanics involved.

2- Scouts to search for criteria fits to apply for this business changing experience.

Call for entries should last no less than a month

Shortlisting

All promotions will direct applications to a designated email address, or a physical submission to the office.

Selection will be in two steps:

House Cleaning: The PITCH Secretariat will conduct a house cleaning to ensure that only applicants who have the criteria will have the opportunity for document review.

Content Evaluation: The PITCH team will evaluate each application on weights determined by the criteria. The best from the list will make it to the pitch session.

First Pitch

This is the first official evaluation of the person behind the business idea.

  • Here, we are not just interested in the uniqueness of the business and its sustainability, we are also very interested in evaluating the owner to see if he/she is investment worthy
  • Each person will be given 3mins to make a winning pitch, and they will be aided with the required business props to make a strong case.
  • There will be a 5mins follow up question after the pitch.
  • Here only those who make the cut will be taken through the business and process test to prepare them for the final pitch. These will be the final 10.

Workshops

Our workshop will be in the form of different tests and process to maker pitchers and businesses investment ready.

  • Pitch Process – To ensure that the salient parts of their pitch has been extracted from the business and captured for the pitch.
  • Lectures – Crush course on how to scale up touching on hiring the right people, developing world-class business operations, routes to market, etc.
  • Meet the CEOs – Participants will be given an opportunity to spend a day with their business owner idols, to learn from them.
  • Once you qualify to this stage, anyone can seal a deal. The better your pitch, the bigger the deal you will get.
  • All winners will be published and congratulated on media platforms.
